CitP blog, 4-22-18 – “Forgive
to be free”
There
is no worse bondage in this life than to be in the bondage of bitterness. It starts with a small “root” of
unforgiveness, then grows into a monster of a grudge and finally, bitterness
beyond belief.
“Follow peace with all men…Looking
diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God;
lest any root of
bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.”
Hebrews 12:14-15
We
have all seen, dealt with…even been the person, who is in this
stranglehold. Years ago, my wife and I
decided that no matter what anyone did to us, we would forgive as Christ had
forgiven us. What could anyone do to us that
would be worse than what we had done to Him in our state of being a sinner? And He has forgiven us ALL we ever did to
Him.
Since
that day (over 30 years ago) we have operated on one premise: FORGIVE TO BE
FREE. We have a favorite slogan we use,
and tell others to practice:
“We cannot NOT FORGIVE!”
